Magnet serves as the voice of manufacturing, advocating for manufacturers in dealing with the multitude of regulatory agencies at the local and regional level and in influencing public policy. Magnet encourages manufacturers to adopt the most modern manufacturing strategies and techniques, provides a clearinghouse for individual manufacturers seeking assistance in the areas of productivity improvement, global access (sourcing and markets) and product innovation, and provides a focal point for working with regional educational institutions to provide a comprehensive set of offerings meeting the needs of manufacturing companies.
Lorain County Port Authority (LCPA) has committed 1.5 million dollars toward the creation of a bond reserve fund. In addition, these funds were further supplemented by a 1 million dollar commitment from the Ohio Department of Development; increasing the balance to 2.5 million dollars.
The Great Lakes Innovation and Development Enterprise (GLIDE), founded in 2001, is a comprehensive regional innovation center, resource hub, and business incubator that supports all facets of the start-up, development, and growth of enterprises. Created by a partnership between the Lorain County Commissioners, Lorain County Community College, and the Ohio Department of Development, GLIDE’s objective is to grow jobs and spearhead economic growth in both Lorain County and the Northern Ohio region.

Through a dynamic Program of work the Lorain County Chamber of Commerce will: 1) foster regional competitiveness, 2) encourage entrepreneurship, 3) articulate a clear agenda for the new economy, 4) promote sustainable development.
The City of Lorain Port Authority is an independent lender — offering solutions for your capital finance challenges. The Fixed-Rate Financing Program makes it possible for maller businesses to access the U.S. capital market and borrow money at investment grade rates. The Off-Balance Sheet Financing and Leasing Program is ideally suited for companies and non-profit organizations that want to obtain a new facility but do not want the asset to appear on their balance sheet. The Infrastructure Financing Program makes it pssible for developers, cities and other regional organizationsto finance public infrasturcture projects. These programs may be utilized in conjunction with the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority as well.
The Lorain County JVS provides career-technical training for both the high school and adult populations of Lorain County. Thanks to the many specialized programs offered, the youth and adults of Lorain County are gaining technical skills on the leading edge of numerous occupations. The Lorain County JVS was established in 1971 and is known as one of the finest career-technical facilities in the state of Ohio. It offers some of the most outstanding, nationally accredidated career development programs in Northern Ohio.
