Lorain County is the Ideal Location

One of Lorain County’s most attractive features is its ideal location – perfectly situated on Lake Erie, halfway from downtown Cleveland to the east and the Lake Erie Islands and North Coast resort areas to the west. As one of Ohio’s largest counties, it is also a vibrant area for new or expanding businesses. Not only is Lorain County a convenient place to work, its family friendly environment makes it a great place to relax and play.

Major U.S. interstates, such as I-80/90, and I-480 run right through the heart of the county. It is also fully served by both CSX and Norfolk Southern railroads and has a fully functioning deep water port in the Port of Lorain.

Headquarters for Invacare Corporation, The RIDGID Tool Corporation and Ross Environmental are located in the Lorain County seat of Elyria. Many other large manufacturers call Lorain County home as well, including: Parker-Hannifin Corp., Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, Henkel Corp., PolyOne Corp., Emerson and Ford Motor Company.

Lorain County houses Lorain County Community College – Ohio’s fastest-growing college. The LCCC University Partnership with eight universities offers 40 bachelors and masters degrees all without leaving Lorain County. Oberlin College, a private, liberal arts college, and the Lorain County Joint Vocational School are located in Lorain County. An additional 20 colleges and universities are within an hour’s drive.

There are 20 miles of Lake Erie shoreline for ultimate fun on the water – including some of the best fishing on the Great Lakes!
